Sweden-based super retailer H&M plans a noon Nov. 16 opening for its new Legends Outlets Kansas City store.

It is taking the 25,000-square-foot former Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th space at 1803 Village West Parkway, Suite 103. Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th closed in mid-January.

The first 200 shoppers in line on opening day will receive an H&M Access to Fashion Pass, valued at between $10 and $300. Customers who bring a garment to recycle also can enter to win a gift card valued from $50 to $250.

T-Rex Cafe auction

T-Rex Cafe closed in the Legends Outlets in mid-August, but fans can still pick up some “souvenirs.”

Kansas City’s Equip-Bid Auctions is listing a bright purple T-Rex display, clamshell-shaped booths and a bar top covered with “ice” at its warehouse at 3177 Mercier St., as well as more practical items such as an air compressor, walk-in cooler, commercial lettuce slicer and built-in pizza oven.

The auction preview is from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 17 with the closing at 7 p.m. Nov. 19.

T-Rex Cafe parent company, Landry’s Inc., didn’t respond to questions about other items not included in the auction.

When the $15 million T-Rex Cafe opened in 2006, it was the area’s most expensive themed-restaurant, besting the $8 million Rainforest Cafe in Oak Park Mall. It included a 45-foot-high, 125-foot long Argentinosaurus. The founder introduced the T-Rex Cafe concept in Kansas City, Kan., receiving $8.5 million in sales tax revenue bonds.
