McClatchy, the parent company of The Kansas City Star, on Wednesday announced the launch of Excelerate, a full-service digital marketing agency.

The Sacramento, Calif.-based media company said Excelerate has roots in more than a dozen markets, including Kansas City.

The agency already has established ties with retailers, arts organizations, auto dealerships and other clients for services ranging from website creation, search-engine optimization, research, video and branded content production, among others.

“Excelerate harnesses McClatchy’s deep portfolio of media products, services and partnerships to deliver digital and traditional marketing plans to advertising clients,” Pat Talamantes, president and CEO of McClatchy, said in a statement.

Andrea Rowan, a 15-year agency and media professional, is Excelerate’s general manager. Tracy Farnsworth is the agency director for Excelerate’s Kansas City office.
