Fast Company gives global recognition to Sporting Innovations
Sporting Innovations, the sports technology offshoot of the Major League Soccer team Sporting Kansas City, is running with fast company.
The technology consulting firm was recently named by Fast Company magazine as one of the world’s most innovative companies in sports for 2015.
The company, headquartered in downtown Kansas City, was joined on the list by businesses and organizations such as Silver Crystal Sports; the National Basketball Association; the Boston Marathon and MLB Advanced Media.
The publication gave Sporting Innovations high marks for showing other sports teams and athletic programs how to engage fans beyond just buying tickets.
Sporting Innovations said its analytical tools enable “teams to better understand who their individual fans are — their behaviors, habits and preferences — so they can be smarter in marketing, selling and interacting with fans.”
The consulting company was launched in 2011 with one client, Sporting Kansas City. It was up to three clients in 2013, but it did business last year with more than 45 athletic programs, including the Utah Jazz, the Pac-12 Conference and Oklahoma State University, the magazine said.
Sporting Innovations has 58 employees. It declined to disclose its revenues.
