NCO is closing call centers in Lenexa and St. Joseph, eliminating 275 jobs
NCO Financial Systems Inc., a national company that specializes in providing support services to businesses, is closing its call centers in Lenexa and St. Joseph, eliminating 275 jobs.
The company will close the operations at the end of March, according to layoff notices filed with state labor departments in Kansas and Missouri. NCO said the layoffs will involve 179 jobs in Kansas and 96 in Missouri.
NCO, which is part of EGS Co. in Plano, Texas, has a global network of more than 100 operations centers, according to the company’s website. Company executives could not be reached for comment.
NCO is known as a collection agency. Its other operations include accounts receivable management, customer management and back office services.
It opened its Lenexa operation in 2002. About five years ago, the company completed a $5.6 million capital improvement program at its facility at 11214 Renner Road.
At the time, it said it employed 670 at that location, with expectations for almost 1,100 people working there by 2010. The Kansas Department of Commerce had committed $420,000 in training assistance for the firm to enable the expansion.
