Single-family home permits increase in the Kansas City area
All eight counties monitored by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City showed growth in the building of single-family homes in the first half of 2016.
The association said 2,793 permits were issued in the January-June period, 29 percent more than in the first six months of 2015.
“Builders are feeling confident as they work to increase inventory levels for new-home buyers,” said Sara Corless, the association’s executive vice president.
Permits for single-family construction in June hit the highest monthly level since October 2007, with 571 permits issued, the association said.
Multifamily construction rose 37 percent in the first half this year compared with the same period last year.
