Union representing Arrowhead workers reaches labor agreement with the Chiefs
Service Employees International Union Local 1 has reached a three-year labor agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs for a group of maintenance workers and game day staff at Arrowhead Stadium.
The contract affects more than 300 environmental cleaners, maintenance workers and other workers at Arrowhead and the Chiefs’ practice facilities.
SEIU Local 1 officials said members voted overwhelmingly to ratify the contract, which provides for annual raises and protects existing health and retirement benefits.
Tyler French, SEIU Local 1 Kansas City director, said the raises in the contract will help workers keep up with cost-of-living increases.
More than 900 additional SEIU Local 1 janitors in Kansas City are negotiating a new contract with cleaning contractors. Negotiations will resume June 15.
SEIU represents more than 3,000 workers in the Kansas City area, including school cafeteria employees, maintenance mechanics at Kauffman Stadium and industrial workers.
