A new name for the Overland Park trade center
The Wichita company that purchased the Overland Park International Trade Center last year has renamed the massive facility the Overland Park Xchange.
Occidental Management Inc. also said Monday that Black & Veatch will take nearly a third of the building when it moves some operations there this fall. The Overland Park-based engineering firm leased 182,000 square feet of space at the 655,000-square-foot center at 6800 W. 115th St.
The lease runs for more than 10 years, according to a news release.
Black & Veatch said earlier this month that more than 700 workers will move into the trade center. The building can also accommodate some of the additional 500 employees the company plans to hire over the next five years.
The huge facility, near the Sprint campus, opened in 1986. Occidental has said it plans to convert some of the building into premium office space.
