Area homebuilder Tom Woods is named chairman of national association

Tom Woods, a Blue Springs-based homebuilder, has been named the 2015 chairman of the National Association of Home Builders.

Woods, president of Woods Custom Homes, was elected to the position during the organization’s international trade show held recently in Las Vegas.

Woods Custom Homes, which he founded in 1974, has built more than 1,000 homes in the Kansas City area.

Woods has been involved in the national association’s leadership at the local, state and national levels throughout his career. He has served on the national organization’s board of directors since 1983 and has been a member of its executive board since 1996.

He was president of the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City in 1991 and was named the group’s builder of the year in 1995.
