First an Itty Bitty character, now a tree ornament.
Popular Royals catcher Salvador Perez is being offered in the new lineup of Hallmark Cards Keepsake Ornaments.
“We feel that Salvy embodies the spirit of the Royals team: He is spunky and fun and is the life of the team,” said Charles Young, Hallmark’s retail product development manager.
The Perez ornament is scheduled to be in Hallmark Gold Crown stores and on Hallmark.com on Oct. 1. The figure, just under 5 inches tall, is listed for sale at $17.95. It pictures him standing and ready to throw the ball.

While Perez represents the entire Royals roster as a Hallmark figure, the team is recognized in a limited-edition ornament commemorating the 2015 World Series championship. That ornament, listed at $19.95 with a limit of three per order, will continue to be available online and in some Kansas City area Hallmark stores until quantities run out.
Young said Hallmark’s Keepsakes team began planning the day after the Royals won the World Series to try to add an ornament to its 2016 line.
“Our licensing team worked fast for us and was able to not only partner with Perez’s agent but also Major League Baseball in order to rush through production,” Young said. “Everything went really smoothly, from our top sculpting talent to rush approvals from Perez.”
It’s the second image used of the catcher. He was previously included in the company’s line of Itty Bitty plush characters.
To capitalize on fan mania, Hallmark also offers a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle that features a photo of the masses of people who thronged to Union Station after the Royals’ victory parade.
