From pints to parties, some St. Patrick’s Day data
A few St. Patrick’s Day facts, courtesy of the data service Statista:
▪ Americans are expected to spend $4.4 billion celebrating the day, an average of $35.37 per person.
▪ Nearly 40 million people in the United States claim Irish heritage, almost seven times Ireland’s population.
▪ Celebration plans run from modest (82.1 percent wearing green) to more involved (31.3 percent making a special dinner; a combined 49.8 percent attending a private party or a party at a bar or restaurant).
▪ It’s a stout day for Guinness. Its usual worldwide daily consumption, 7.5 million pints, will be soaring (but not quite doublin’) to 13 million.
