Commerce to delay earnings release

Commerce Bancshares Inc. announced late Wednesday that it will delay its fourth-quarter earnings release that was scheduled for Thursday.

The Kansas City-based banking company said the results would not be released “until the completion of audit procedures on its allowance for loan losses by its external auditors.”

Commerce said “the current auditing environment with heightened expectations and evolving practices related to the allowance has caused this unexpected delay.” Commerce said its credit loss experience has “remained strong and consistent throughout 2014.”
