Kansas City Star names Michelle Jolles vice president of advertising
The Kansas City Star Media Co. has named Michelle Jolles as its vice president of advertising, filling a post held by Tony Berg before he became publisher in January.
Jolles was director of retail advertising and product innovation, a job that involved The Star’s digital and print divisions and included KC Spaces, KC Weddings, Ink, Middle of the Map and Bridal Spectacular.
“Michelle has a proven track record of developing innovative solutions for advertisers as well as building strong partnerships in the community,” Berg said in an announcement.
Jolles started her career at The Star more than 20 years ago after graduating from the University of Missouri. She and her husband, Shaul, are the parents of four boys.
Her appointment will be effective March 14.
“We’ve played an important role in the local business community,” Jolles said. “As our audience continues to grow, I’m looking forward to developing more innovation solutions for our partners.”
Berg became vice president of advertising about a year ago, joining The Star from The Wichita Eagle. Both companies are part of the McClatchy Co.
