Major push for energy efficiency in KC area to be unveiled
A major push to increase energy efficiency of commercial and government-related institutional buildings in the Kansas City area is expected to be unveiled today.
Kansas City Mayor Sly James, Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce CEO Jim Heeter, and an executive from Kansas City Power & Light Co. are scheduled to appear at a press conference in downtown Kansas City to discuss the plans.
Energy efficiency has trailed in the Midwest because of relatively low electric rates. But concerns about climate change and some local energy efficiency success stories have brought the option more respect and attention.
