Avila University event raises record-setting $1.17 million in scholarships

Avila University said its recent 40th annual Steer Dinner and Auction raised a record $1.17 million in student scholarships.

The university, located at 119th Street and Wornall Road, said the funds help ensure that 98 percent of the school’s undergraduate students receive some form of financial assistance.

Since the first Steer dinner and auction, the event has raised more than $10 million in scholarships. This year’s event, attended by nearly 700 guests, celebrated the school’s centennial anniversary.
