The KC STEM Alliance, a network of businesses and schools that promotes education and work in science, technology, engineering and math, has a new executive director.

Martha McCabe has succeeded Laura Loyacono in the 5-year-old organization.

The alliance, an independent program housed at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, is funded by Kansas City area foundations and communication, engineering and technology companies.

McCabe has been with the KC STEM Alliance since 2013. A graduate of the University of Kansas, she previously worked for the Area Health Education Center in Wisconsin, where she developed health education programs.
