NPC International acquires 56 Wendy’s restaurants

NPC International Inc. has announced an agreement to purchase 56 Wendy’s restaurants in North Carolina and Virginia for $58.2 million.

Overland Park-based NPC is purchasing the restaurants from Carlisle Corp., and the sale is expected to be completed in July. Many of the Wendy’s are in the Greensboro-Winston Salem area in North Carolina.

NPC said the deal will be its fourth acquisition of Wendy’s restaurants since it expanded into this business in July 2013. The 56 units being acquired will boost NPC’s total Wendy’s locations to 146.

The company is the largest Pizza Hut franchisee, with 1,261 restaurants and delivery units in 28 states.
