Black & Veatch will move 700 workers to Overland Park Trade Center
Black & Veatch said Tuesday that its telecommunications and special projects professionals will move into renovated facilities at the Overland Park Trade Center.
More than 700 workers are expected to move this fall from two buildings in Corporate Woods and at 6601 College Blvd. Those leases are due to expire at yearend.
The move to the trade center will better accommodate growth that is expected to add 500 jobs in Kansas over the next five years, the engineering firm said in a press release.
The city of Overland Park and the Kansas Department of Commerce approved economic development incentives to assist the company’s relocations.
The engineering company in September formally opened its revamped headquarters building, a $60 million renovation, at 11401 Lamar Ave. That included development of an “innovation pavilion” with a grass roof and other renewable energy features such as solar panels and a geothermal field for cooling the building.
The company reported 2013 revenues of $3.6 billion.
Black & Veatch employs about 3,300 in the Kansas City metro area and has a worldwide workforce of about 10,000.
