Sale of KC-based Freightquote completed

Done deal

C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. of Eden Prairie, Minn., has completed its $365 million acquisition of freight broker Freightquote.com of Kansas City. C.H. Robinson, which is publicly traded, provides freight and other transportation services in North and South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It announced the purchase in early December.

Freightquote has about 1,000 employees.

C.H. Robinson has said it plans to continue to use the Freightquote brand and to expand its Kansas City operations. Freightquote’s proprietary technology allows shippers to seek and compare shipping rates and other information online. It also handles shipping for customers. The company also works with freight companies to help them find freight customers in markets where they have idle equipment.

Freightquote is headquartered at 901 W. Carondelet Drive in south Kansas City.
