Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft and Pottery Barn Kids will close their Country Club Plaza stores later this month.

Highwoods Properties, which owns the shopping, entertainment and office district, confirmed the closings on Friday.

Ann Taylor, at 309 Nichols Road, and its sister store, Ann Taylor Loft, at 235 W. 47th St., are scheduled to close Jan. 24, Highwoods said.

The Ann Taylor at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park is also closing, a store employee said.

A spokesman for the women’s clothing retailer could not be reached for comment Friday.

Pottery Barn Kids, which is owned by Williams-Sonoma Inc., is expected to close in mid-January. The store is at 4760 Broadway.

“Stores opening and closing is part of the natural rhythm of retail,” Glenn Stephenson, Highwoods’ vice president in Kansas City, said in a statement. “Ann Taylor, Loft and Pottery Barn Kids were strong brands for the district. However, we are excited about the opportunity to bring new retailers that add to the Plaza’s exceptional mix of exclusive boutiques and world-class stores.”

Stephenson could not be reached for further comment.

Highwoods also said the Boulevard Brewing Co. seasonal pop-up store at 412 Nichols Road will close Sunday.
