South Kansas City company will add 42 jobs

MMC Contractors Inc., a Kansas City company that designs, makes and installs mechanical equipment, says it will add dozens of high-paying jobs at 13800 Wyandotte Ave. after a building addition is completed.

Windswept Properties LLC, the building owner, requested and received a property tax abatement for the $3 million building addition. Windswept will develop the property.

MMC, which dates to 1932, intends to create 42 jobs with an average annual salary of $94,000. Jobs include engineers, equipment designers and installation technicians. The expansion will bring MMC’s workforce to about 100.

The expansion is getting property tax abatement through the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s Enhanced Enterprise Zone program. The property has been approved for a 10-year, 100 percent abatement of the increased property taxes on the new assessed value. MMC expects to occupy the expanded space next year.
