Marcelo Claure became Sprint’s chief executive officer in August and greatly expanded his greeting card list. He mailed three-quarters of a million cards out this holiday season.
The recipients of these cards are selected Sprint customers across the nation.
Each is receiving a customized greeting card with holiday wishes and “sincere thanks” for allowing Sprint to be “part of your world.”
The cover artwork is a winter shopping scene — suggesting Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza — with a Sprint store’s sign displayed with graceful understatement. It gets the point across without seeming too commercial.

Inside, a personalized message from Claure has been inscribed in a typeface to make it seem handwritten for that extra touch. His signature, illegible, as many are, is how the real one looks, the company confirmed.
Sprint spokeswoman Melinda Tiemeyer said the cards are part of the company’s effort to bring the best value to existing customers. It follows up a letter they, and millions of other customers, received with offers of “rewards.”
The company has been offering half-off promotions and other deals to rival companies’ subscribers during the holiday season.
Although Claure moved to the Kansas City area only four months ago, he got good advice on where to shop for cards. They were specially created for Sprint by Hallmark, based in Kansas City.
