KCP&L warns customers about phone scams

Kansas City Power & Light is warning its residential and business customers of an increase in phone scams during the holiday season related to customer bills.

Many of the recent calls are to businesses, with someone purportedly representing KCP&L asking for immediate payment to prevent a disconnection.

John Breckenridge, senior manager of corporate security, said such calls are not the method used to reach customers concerning their bills.

Customers with questions should call the KCP&L Customer Contact Center at 888-471-5275.
