Ferrellgas Partners LP on Wednesday reported higher first-quarter revenue but a larger net loss.

The Overland Park-based propane supplier said revenue climbed to $443.4 million for the three months ending Oct. 31, up from $415 million in the same period a year earlier.

The net loss for the quarter was $33.2 million, compared with a net loss of $25.1 million in the year-earlier quarter. Ferrellgas said its gross quarterly profit grew 8 percent in the quarter to a record $154.7 million.

Steve Wambold, the company’s president and CEO, said the first-quarter results met expectations.

“November, the start of our second quarter, also looks to be in line with our expectations, as seasonably cold temperatures boosted the demand for propane consumption,” Wambold said.
