Facts about our veterans and Veterans Day
Wednesday is Veterans Day, the 97th anniversary of the end of World War I. It was first celebrated as Armistice Day on the first anniversary in 1919. Congress made it an annual observance in 1926, a national holiday in 1938 and Veterans Day in 1954 as a way to honor those who served in all American wars.
