American Airlines will offer nonstop KCI flight to Cancun in 2016

American Airlines said it will launch nonstop seasonal service between Kansas City International Airport and Cancun, Mexico, in 2016.

The airline expects to start the Saturday-only service on March 5. American said customers should be able to begin purchasing tickets for the Cancun route in mid-November, assuming government approvals have been obtained.

In addition to KCI, American is adding a Cancun flight to Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Pittsburgh International Airport and Nashville International Airport.

The KCI departure time is scheduled for 7 a.m. The return flight from Cancun International Airport to Kansas City is scheduled to arrive about 3 p.m. Saturdays.

American has 30 daily departures from KCI.
