Bolling Federal Building in downtown Kansas City will be rededicated Friday
The General Services Administration said it will hold a rededication of the Richard Bolling Federal Building in downtown Kansas City beginning at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The GSA and its project partners have completed a $280 million renovation of the 1.2-million-square-foot office building at 601 E. 12th St.
Modernization made the building more energy efficient, improved security features, abated the building of asbestos fireproofing and upgraded all building systems.
Speakers at the event are to include GSA regional administrator Jason Klumb, Social Security regional administrator Ken Powell and representatives from J.E. Dunn Construction, Helix Architecture + Design and architecture firm GastingerWalker&.
The 18-story office building opened in 1965. It is named for Richard Bolling, who represented his Kansas City district as a congressman for 30 years. About 2,800 federal employees work in the building.
