New Mexico businessman Steve Maestas has been named chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City for the coming year.

Maestas is chief executive officer of Maestas Development Group in Albuquerque. He has served as deputy chairman since 2013 and succeeds 2014 chairwoman Barb Mowry, who is chief executive of GoreCreek Advisors in Greenwood Village, Colo.

In addition, Rose Washington was named the Fed bank’s deputy chair for 2015. She has served as a Kansas City Fed director since 2013 and is executive director of the Tulsa Economic Development Corp. in Tulsa, Okla.

The Kansas City Fed’s board consists of nine members, including three who are appointed by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington. The Board of Governors each year designates one of its appointees as chair and a second as deputy chair.
