Olathe is getting a big industrial building

A groundbreaking will be held Friday on one of the largest speculatively built industrial buildings in the Kansas City area.

The 496,150-square-foot building, the Lone Elm Logistics Center, is at 16233 Lone Elm Road in Olathe.

The industrial building, with 36-foot ceilings and 500 parking spaces, is being marketed for warehouse, e-commerce or distribution use, as well as light manufacturing, said John Hassler with Newmark Grubb Zimmer.

The stand-alone site is near a new Interstate 35 interchange as well as the large BNSF Intermodal center. It is planned to be ready for occupancy by July 2016.
