Man pleads guilty to embezzling $6 million from Overland Park firm
An Overland Park man has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $6 million from Commodity Specialists Co.
Kenneth Voboril was charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of filing a false tax return, according to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Kansas.
Voboril admitted he was hired in 2005 by Overland Park-based Commodity Specialists to run its subsidiary, TransMaxx, which handled trucking deliveries for customers along with other services, the announcement said.
Voboril defrauded Commodity Specialists by “creating fake companies and billing CSC for deliveries that never occurred,” the announcement said.
Over time, he embezzled more than $6 million and also failed to report the income on his federal tax returns, the statement said.
Sentencing is set for Dec. 7.
