Great-West Financial renames its retirement business Empower
Great-West Financial on Thursday said its retirement business, which has a major operation in Overland Park, has been renamed Empower.
The rebranding follows Great-West’s recent acquisition of J.P. Morgan Retirement Plan Services, based on the Sprint campus. Great-West, based in Greenwood Village, Colo., is integrating the former J.P. Morgan operation with the retirement business of Putnam Investments.
The operation in Overland Park has about 1,000 employees.
Great-West is now the second largest record keeper of 401(k)-type retirement plans, with about 7 million participants and more than $400 billion in assets.
