Parent company of Perceptive Software reports lower profits
Lexmark International Inc., the parent company of Shawnee-based Perceptive Software, reported a 27 percent decline in first-quarter earnings.
The company, based in Lexington, Ky., reported a profit of $29.3 million, or 46 cents a share, down from $40 million, or 62 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue slipped slightly to $877.7 million.
However, Lexmark said the business unit that includes Perceptive Software reported an 18 percent increase in quarterly revenue and accounted for 28 percent of the company’s total revenue for the three months ending March 31. Revenue in this unit is expected to exceed $1 billion this year, the company said.
Perceptive, which has about 800 area employees, will move into a new headquarters in Lenexa later this year.
