Domino's releases 'pizza' with breaded chicken crust
The pizza artists at Domino's have gotten a little more adventurous with their latest concoction: a "pizza" made with a breaded chicken crust.
Dubbed "Specialty Chicken," Domino's swapped out a traditional pizza crust for 12 bites of "lightly breaded, 100 percent whole breast white meat chicken" topped with meats, cheeses, vegetables and sauce.
The chicken comes in four flavor options: crispy bacon and tomato, spicy-jalepeno pineapple, classic hot buffalo and sweet barbecue bacon.
Specialty Chicken is the first new menu item for Domino's since 2012, when handmade pan pizza was introduced.
"We are proud to be known as a pizza company, but Specialty Chicken shows we are not afraid to step out of our comfort zone and take risks – something that is truly part of our brand fabric," said Russell Weiner, Domino's Pizza chief marketing officer. "Not every risk we have taken has turned out to be successful, but as a brand we have learned that sometimes you have to fail in order to be great."
Specialty Chicken is being offered as part of Domino's $5.99 value meal and is available beginning Wednesday.
Adventurous eaters can give the chicken a test drive by entering to win an order on Domino's Facebook page by the end of the day.
We're not sure what poses more risk: creating the Specialty Chicken or being the first customer to try it.
