Overview

The 2026 Mercedes-AMG GLC compact luxury SUV and coupe SUV are the performance derivatives of Mercedes's popular crossover. Besides being offered in SUV and Coupe body styles, it also comes in two powertrains, both underpinned by a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder - the mild-hybrid 416-hp AMG GLC 43 and the plug-in hybrid 671-hp AMG GLC 63 S E Performance, helped by a rear-mounted 150-kW electric motor and 6.1-kWh battery.

Both are properly quick - 4.7 and 3.5 seconds from 0-60 mph, respectively - and come with a 9-speed AMG Speedshift MCT automatic and AWD. They'd be perfect for buyers who want genuine AMG performance credentials in a compact luxury SUV.

What's New for 2026

The 2026 AMG GLC now includes the MBUX Entertainment Plus package when you order it in Pinnacle guise. The system gives you access to audio and video streaming apps. The only other change is. An AMG emblem is added to the center console lid, and a new Black Fine Structure finish is available for the center console. A new 6-cylinder AMG GLC 53 is expected this year as a 2027 model.

The 2026 Mercedes-AMG GLC's price range kicks off at $67,550 for the AMG GLC 43 SUV.

Exterior

The standard GLC is suitably muscled up by AMG with a Panamericana grille, more aggressive fascias, unique bumpers with larger air intakes, a rear diffuser, 20-inch 10-spoke AMG wheels, and quad exhausts. The Coupe trades a little rear headroom for a sleek profile, but the package is such that the compromise is minor. It's also 1.8 inches longer than the 187-inch SUV, but both sit on the same 113.7-inch wheelbase. The Night package adds jet-black exterior trim, and Night Plus takes it further with a darkened grille and black-chrome badges.

Interior

The cabin is plush, and the materials are of high quality, but you pay extra for leather, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. In standard form, MB-Tex and microfiber upholstery, heated power front seats with memory, and dual-zone climate control. The rear seats offer more than 37 inches of legroom in both body styles, and the Coupe's rear headroom of 38.3 inches is only 1.1 inches less than that of the SUV, while the 21.9-cu-ft trunk is only 0.4 cu-ft smaller.

The MBUX system comprises a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an 11.9-inch touchscreen with the "Hey, Mercedes" assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, and Wi-Fi.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • GLC 43's F1-derived electric turbocharger eliminates lag for instant response
  • GLC 63 S E Performance has 671 hp and supercar acceleration (3.5 sec 0-60)
  • SUV and Coupe body styles offer meaningful choice
  • 3,500-lb towing capacity is useful for the segment
  • AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension balances comfort and handling

Cons:

  • GLC 63 S E Performance adds nearly 600 lbs due to PHEV hardware
  • 21.9 cu-ft of cargo behind rear seats below average for the compact luxury segment
  • Four-cylinder engines lack character
  • Coupe variants sacrifice some rear headroom and cargo
  • GLC 63 at $86,750+ approaches midsize luxury SUV territory

Verdict

The Mercedes-AMG GLC offers plenty of choice in the spicy luxury compact SUV segment, with 416-hp MHEV or 671-hp PHEV outputs and a choice of SUV and Coupe body styles, the latter barely losing out in practicality, but costing more. Next year, there will be even more choice, with a 6-cylinder AMG GLC 53 splitting the difference.

The AMG GLCs do mostly everything right, but the 43 is the sensible choice, with plenty of performance, all the major AMG hardware, and a significantly lower price. It's not quite as well-equipped as it could be for the price, and the trunk is rather small for the segment, but otherwise, these hot twins are ideal for buyers looking for a luxury compact with authentic AMG genes.
