The foundation created by the sale of the former Health Midwest hospitals to HCA has announced a new funding round to address mental health care.

The Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City has awarded a total of $4.3 million to 37 area nonprofit organizations that provide services for behavoral health, family and domestic violence, prevention and advocacy.

The foundation received 58 proposals for this round of funding, totaling about $9.1 million in requests.
