Registered nurses at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park are in negotiations with the hospital. The 306 nurses, affiliated with the National Nurses Organizing Committee, have working with an expired contract since May 31.

The union is focusing on staffing levels and wages, which the nurses say have been inadequate. The hospital says it is focused on staffing appropriately to meet patients’ needs.

The union plans a rally and informational picket on Friday evening in the 5700 block of West 119th Street. A spokeswoman for the hospital said the activity won’t interfere with patient service.

Bargaining talks are scheduled for Aug. 12, 27 and 28.
