Happy 93rd, Henry Bloch
Here’s a happy birthday shout out to Henry Bloch at 93.
The co-founder of H&R Block Inc. talked with The Star three years ago as he reached the 90 milestone.
He shared stories about the company’s founding, of the money he wasted hiring a nice setting for when Andy Warhol painted a portrait of his wife, Marion, and how an advertising man at The Kansas City Star got the big tax preparation company off the ground.

— H&R Block (@HRBlock) July 30, 2015Bloch celebrated his 90th with a gift to the city, a new family foundation to improve the quality of life here.
At a celebration of his 90th birthday, Bloch announced the Marion and Henry Bloch Family Foundation ultimately would inherit all of the couple's personal wealth.
“I worked a lifetime to make this possible,” Bloch had told the few hundred invitees at the celebration at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. “I have felt for many years that I owed a gigantic debt to Kansas City.”
