The Kansas City Star

St. Luke’s East Hospital recently selected McCarthy Building Cos. to build an MRI room for a new magnetic resonance imaging machine, and to convert some office space into a break room for physicians and nurses. The decision follows one in June to have McCarthy renovate space for the new St. Luke’s Medical Group primary care clinic.

McCarthy, based in St. Louis, opened its Kansas City office in May 2013; it now manages $900 million in projects.

The two St. Luke’s East projects, which combined total nearly $2 million, are expected to be finished by year-end.

“Modern Healthcare magazine ranks McCarthy as the country’s largest health care general contractor,” said Scott Wittkop, McCarthy’s Central Division president. “We’re very pleased that our first Kansas City-based healthcare projects allow us to apply this specific construction expertise in work with Saint Luke’s Health System.”

McCarthy has a dozen other offices across the U.S., including five in California and as far east as Atlanta.
