Kohl’s Department Store has donated $256,895 to a Children’s Mercy Hospital education program. The Strong, Talented, Authentic and Resilient Kids Power Program provides preventive-health education to elementary school students as well as a public service announcement campaign promoting healthy sleep habits.

The retailer donated the money, which was collected from its Kansas City area stores, through its Kohl’s Cares program. Since 2000, Kohl’s has contributed more than $3.1 million to Children’s Mercy.

Kohl’s and Children’s Mercy are holding an event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Sprint Family Fun Days Fall Festival at the Power & Light District in downtown Kansas City. Sleep experts from the hospital will be available to offer advice on children’s sleeping habits.
