Need a last-second New Year’s store run? Here’s what’s open around Kansas City
Is your party missing a key ingredient? Kansas City has you covered. A few stores and pharmacies in the area will be open over the New Year’s weekend for any last-second party needs.
A reminder before you host or attend any house parties: get tested for COVID-19. We recently found testing sites and stores that are selling at-home COVID-19 tests, so be sure to do that before New Year’s Eve.

Aldi
Each store will close at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and stay closed on New Year’s Day. The store locator will show the closest Aldi near you and when it opens.
Cosentino’s
The local grocery store will be open on New Year’s Eve and closed on Christmas. The Overland Park location’s pharmacy will be, too. Check the store locator for more information.
Costco
The wholesale grocery store and its many utilities will be open on New Year’s Eve until 6 p.m. and closed on New Year’s Day. Use the store locator to find the closest Costco near you.
CVS
The pharmacy and the store will be open during the holiday. Check the store locator to find more information on your closest CVS’ hours of operation during the New Year’s weekend.
Gomer’s
One of Kansas City’s local liquor stores will be open over the weekend. Each store has different hours, so call to check if you’re not sure.
Hen House

They’ll be open until 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and closed on New Year’s Day. The store locator will have more information, such as when they open on Friday.
Walgreens

Walmart
