Ron Lockton is promoted to vice chairman of insurance broker Lockton Inc.

Ron Lockton has been named vice chairman of Lockton Inc., a Kansas City-based independent insurance broker.

Lockton will take on broader leadership responsibilities as part of the privately held company’s long-term succession plan, according to a news release.

Lockton, 48, is the son of Jack Lockton, the late founder of the company, and nephew of David Lockton, the firm’s chairman.

Ron Lockton joined the company in 1990. He led Lockton’s property-casualty operation from 2006 until last year. During that time, the company said, its Kansas City operations grew from a staff of 350 and revenue of $85 million to a staff of 570 with revenue of $135 million.

Lockton has more than 5,300 employees companywide.
