Shawnee Mission Medical Center begins renovation

A $25 million remodeling will continue in phases until fall 2016 on the first floor of Shawnee Mission Medical Center, the health system said Monday.

The renovations, including new food-service areas and offices, are part of a master plan for Shawnee Mission Health’s main hospital in Merriam. The plan also featured a new birthing center that opened in 2011.

Hospital officials said technology updates, including a new conference center, are planned.

ACI Boland Architects; Henderson Engineers; Bob D. Campbell & Co.; JE Dunn Construction, and Megan Dudack with Benson Wedd are on the construction and design team.
