UMKC’s downtown campus gets more pledges

The University of Missouri-Kansas City Foundation announced $5.6 million more in gifts for the Conservatory of Music and Dance’s planned new facility in downtown Kansas City.

The new gifts bring to more than $30 million the amount raised toward a $48 million fundraising goal needed to obtain matching funds from the state of Missouri. The project’s first phase is expected to cost $96 million.

The new facility will occupy an 80,000-square-foot tract bounded by Broadway, Central, 17th and 18th streets. It will provide classrooms and other facilities for about 600 students.
