Kansas City hiring fair targets one urban neighborhood

A hiring fair designed for Kansas City residents in the area bounded by Troost Avenue and 71 Highway, 22nd and 52nd streets is scheduled for Oct. 7.

The Urban Neighborhood Initiative, the Housing Authority of Kansas City, Missouri, the Urban League, and Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring the event.

About 20 Kansas City area employers with immediate entry-level job openings are signed up to attend, accept applications and interview job seekers from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on that Tuesday at St. James United Methodist Church, 56th Street and the Paseo Boulevard.

The hiring fair is part of the chamber’s Big 5 initiative to revitalize an urban core neighborhood.
