MRIGlobal on Tuesday announced the promotion of Robert A. Conklin to be vice president for defense and infrastructure, and Roger K. Harris to be vice president for global health security.

Both will report to the former Midwest Research Institute’s president and chief executive officer, Thomas M. Sack, the institute said in a release. They will be responsible for the technical and financial performance of their respective areas.

Conklin, a 25-year veteran of the institute, has been its director of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. He now will oversee biosurveillance, engineering, energy, infrastructure and chemical defense work.

He has directed the institute’s development of “portable, rugged, sophisticated, and reliable …mobile laboratories and medical transport systems,” the release said, which were used last year when Ebola broke out in some countries in Africa.

Harris, a nearly 30-year veteran of the institute, was associate vice president for global health security. As vice president he will oversee “all aspects of research across MRIGlobal business areas of diagnostics, medical countermeasures, and product development and repository management,” the release said.
