Brownback, Kobach to launch Kansas Business Center

TOPEKA – Gov. Sam Brownback and Secretary of State Kris Kobach are preparing to launch what they’re describing as a new Kansas Business Center.

Their offices did not provide other details before Friday morning’s event in Topeka, except to say that the center will be a one-stop place to help businesses.

As governor, Brownback oversees the state Department of Commerce and its business development programs. But the secretary of state’s office is where businesses file articles of incorporation and annual reports.

Both officials are conservative Republicans locked in tough re-election races ahead of the Nov. 4 election. Brownback’s Democratic challenger is Kansas House Minority Leader Paul Davis, while Kobach faces former state Sen. Jean Schodorf.
