An AMC Theatres charitable foundation on Tuesday announced donations totaling $3.7 million to 37 organizations nationwide that support children, including 10 in the Kansas City area.

The Leawood-based movie theater company awarded $230,000 in grants locally through its AMC Cares Charitable Grant Fund.

The area charitable organizations that received funding: Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City, $100,000; Camps for Kids, $15,000; Guadalupe Centers Inc., $20,000; Harvesters-The Community Food Network, $25,000; Hoops 4 Hope, $5,000; Just Like You Films, $15,000; Lakemary Center Inc., $10,000; Operation Breakthrough, $10,000; United Way of Greater Kansas City, $20,000; and Variety Children’s Charity of Greater KC, $10,000.
