Perceptive Software closes satellite offices and announces layoffs
Perceptive Software, which has been acquiring companies and just moved into its new Lenexa headquarters, is also laying people off and closing satellite offices.
Chief executive Scott Coons, in an email to the staff, announced layoffs “to achieve profitable growth” but did not say how many. He also said offices in Beverly, Mass., and San Francisco would close.
Perceptive, previously based in Shawnee, recently moved 750 employees into its new headquarters at 8900 Renner Blvd. Perceptive wouldn’t say how many area employees might be affected and noted that it is the policy of its parent company, Lexmark International Technology, to not comment on internal communications.
Layoffs often follow mergers and acquisitions, and Perceptive has made several acquisitions in recent years. In May 2013, Perceptive announced about 40 layoffs.
Coons’ email said Perceptive is working on integrating the largest of its recent acquisitions, ReadSoft, which is based in Sweden and was bought in May. ReadSoft’s cloud management software is regarded as an important complement to Perceptive’s document and workflow management products.
