Kansas City Southern will spend $15.6 million on Missouri rail upgrade

Kansas City Southern Railway said Tuesday that it will invest about $15.6 million on construction and improvement projects involving a section of rail line from Kansas City to Stotesbury, Mo.

The railroad said the project includes replacing 1.75 miles of rail and 100,000 cross ties, as well as improvements to more than 90 road crossings along the Missouri route covering Kansas City, Grandview, Cleveland, Drexel, Amsterdam, Hume and Stotesbury. The work is scheduled to begin May 26 and continue through the end of June.

The railroad, a subsidiary of Kansas City Southern, said the project will improve shipping capacity and enhance safety along its network.
