Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association changes its name to Visit KC
The Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association has changed its name to Visit KC.
The group said the new name aligns it with other community marketing groups such as ArtsKC, KC Chamber and KC Streetcar. In addition, the visitors association already uses Visit KC on a website, social media and a guide for visitors.
“This change solidifies that brand with our local stakeholders and audiences,” according to the announcement of the name change.
Business cards, signs and other items with the Convention & Visitors Association name will be changed in the next several months. A revamped VisitKC.com will debut Oct. 1.
Visit KC has some roots. It was initially used in 1918 as the name of the hospitality arm of the Chamber of Commerce.
More than 50 city convention and visitors associations have adopted simpler names that are thought to be easier to say and understand, including Visit Orlando, Visit Denver and Visit Seattle.
