Olathe-based NIC reports higher quarterly revenue

NIC Inc. on Monday posted higher revenue but a slightly smaller profit for its first quarter compared with year-earlier results.

The Olathe-based company, which creates official government websites and provides online services and secure payment systems, reported quarterly revenue of $70.4 million for the three months that ended March 31. That’s up from revenue of $65.4 million in the first quarter of 2014.

However, net earnings of $8.9 million fell short of last year’s first-quarter profit of $9.4 million.
